Nowhere to hide: Radio-faint AGN in the GOODS-N field

چکیده

Obtaining a census of active galactic nuclei (AGN) activity across cosmic time is critical to our understanding galaxy evolution and formation. Many AGN classification techniques are compromised by dust obscuration. However, very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) can be used identify compact emission that only attributed activity. This the second in series papers dealing with radio population GOODS-N field. We review 14 different context VLBI-detected sample, use these investigate nature as well their host galaxies. find no single identification technique all VLBI objects AGN. Infrared colour-colour selection most notably incomplete. usage multiple schemes VLBI-selected AGN, independently verifying similar approaches other deep field surveys. In era large area surveys instruments such SKA ngVLA, multi-wavelength coverage, which relies heavily upon observations from space, often unavailable. Therefore, remains an integral component detecting jetted efficient inefficient accretion types. A substantial fraction (46%) have X-ray counterpart, likely due lack sensitivity band. high reside low or intermediate redshift dust-poor early-type These exhibit accretion. Finally, significant symbiotic dusty starburst - systems. present extensive compilation properties Appendix.

Nowhere to hide.

Northern Hemisphere's carbon dioxide emissions. "That's much more than any terrestrial plant ecologist would have considered likely," Tans said. Conserving tree and plant populations, he added, might raise their carbon dioxide uptake even higher. Understanding how carbon cycles through plants is vital to decreasing global warming. By burning fuel and clearing forests, human activity generates 7...

Nowhere to Hide: Navigating around Privacy in Online Social Networks

In this paper, we introduce a navigation privacy attack, where an external adversary attempts to find a target user by exploiting publicly visible attributes of intermediate users. If such an attack is successful, it implies that a user cannot hide simply by excluding himself from a central directory or search function. The attack exploits the fact that most attributes (such as place of residen...

WHY OPTICALLY–FAINT AGN ARE OPTICALLY–FAINT: THE Spitzer PERSPECTIVE

Optically–faint X-ray sources (those with fX/fR> 10) constitute about 20% of X-ray sources in deep surveys, and are potentially highly obscured and/or at high redshift. Their faint optical fluxes are generally beyond the reach of spectroscopy. For a sample of 20 optically–faint sources in CDFS, we compile 0.4–24 μm photometry, relying heavily on Spitzer. We estimate photometric redshifts for 17...

Coming soon: nowhere to hide for hospital managers.

Hospital and health care managers and administrators will in future be measured against mandatory core standards and judged on outcomes, with little place to hide and less room to shift responsibility, the country's new standards certification chief warned last month. Dr Carol Marshal, Director of the Office of Healthcare Standards Compliance (OHSC), in the national Department of Health has the...
